…it was a set-up because Mamiji knew too well that I can not avoid EATING at the relatives’ place, whether or not I have had my LUNCH already!

And so, here I was – at Shukla uncle’s house – pleading with him in an attempt to skip EATING at his place. But how was that possible! After all, I was the ‘jamai’ of the house who has paid visit to his place for the first time! I had to have at least some SWEETS, if not the proper lunch.

And that ‘some sweets’ turned out to be a big plate full of KAJU BARFI and various other assorted sweets! Accompanying the plate was bowl full of VANILLA ICE CREAM!! No way – were the first words which came out of my mouth!!! And in spite of trying to understand my situation, they were not ready to bend their tradition – tradition of turning ‘jamai’ into a stuffed toy!

Day 2 in Ahmedabad: Next morning, I got up very early – around 6 o’clock. And not wanting to disturb my peacefully sleeping wife (after all, she was in her maayka), I sneaked out of the bedroom. And in the hall, greeting ‘Jai Shri Krishna’ was ‘Amma’ – my wife’s granny. She was up and going through her daily dose of Gujrat Samachar. And for the first time in my life, I started my day with a Gujrati newspaper, trying hard to make sense of what has been written.

My happy small world!

This is exactly what these fishies of mine want to say! Just watch them carefully – they are absolutely free spirited! Wish we humans could also be like them!

Snowfall in New York

The best part about our apartment in New York – watching snowfall. At least this is what my wife told me when she captured this view about a month ago!

Have a look here:

…that evening when I opened my eyes, it was getting dark outside. And I thanked my wife for letting me rest and not dragging me out. That’s another issue that she was busy discussing all sorts of girlie stuff with her Mamiji and didn’t really bother much about me.
